Fellowship

The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at Baylor College of Medicine is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and is specifically designed to prepare pediatricians for a career in academic Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

The fellowship program at the College has been training fellows in pediatric critical care since the early 1980’s and has trained more than 50 fellows. The primary goal of our program is to train physicians who will impact the care of children by their educational, investigative, and clinical efforts throughout their careers. In addition to strong, varied clinical opportunities, the training program affords fellows in-depth focused experiences in research and education. The program lasts 36 months. Trainees are encouraged to consider additional time in basic research or specialized clinical activities to enhance their career as academic intensivists.

Residents and medical students from other institutions who are interested in critical care medicine and considering an elective with the BCM Pediatric Critical Care Section are encouraged to contact Dr. M. Hossein Tcharmtchi to discuss opportunities for visitors. Our busy PICU offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in pediatric physiology and see a diverse patient population.

Those interested in a post-doctoral fellowship are encouraged to submit an application through Electronic Residency Application System www.aamc.org/eras after reviewing a full description of the training program.
