Pediatric Cardiology at Texas Children's Hospital

Location:

The Cardiology section of the Pediatrics is located on the 15th, 18th, 19th, and 20th floors of the West Tower of Texas Children's. The floors are divided as follows:

  • 15th Floor: Inpatient
  • 18th Floor: Catheterization Laboratory, Surgery, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
  • 19th Floor: Cardiology, Congenital Heart Surgery, and Cardiovascular Anesthesia business offices
  • 20th Floor: Echocardiography Laboratory, Outpatient Clinic, ECG Lab, Pacemaker Lab, and Stress Lab

Clinical facilities are located in Texas Children's. Other clinical facilities utilized for the program are the Halbouty Nursery at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital (structurally joined to Texas Children's), the pediatric service at the Ben Taub General Hospital, Texas Woman's Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Bellaire Hospital, Park Plaza Hospital, and Memorial Southwest Hospital. Basic science research laboratories are located at Baylor College of Medicine, the Cardiovascular Surgical Research Laboratory of the Texas Heart Institute, the Fondren Brown Building of Methodist Hospital, and the Clinical Research Center at Texas Children's.

Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic

In this clinic, expertise in genetics, cardiovascular genetics, cardiology, congenital heart disease, and genetic counseling are brought together in the evaluation of every child and young adult referred. In addition, expertise in molecular genetics is utilized and genetic studies are performed in selected cases.

The clinic meets every other Wednesday on the 20th floor of the West Tower at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Cardiomyopathy/Transplant Clinic

This clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of heart muscle disease (myocarditis, dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysphasia/cardiomyopathy, left ventricular noncompaction, metabolic cardiomyopathy, toxic cardiomyopathy) and heart failure. In addition to patients with heart muscle disease and heart failure, all cardiac transplant recipients, as well as patients needing evaluation or listing for transplantation, are cared for in this clinic.

The clinic meets every Thursday on the 20th floor of the West Tower at Texas Children’s Hospital.
