Research Interests:
  • High-risk behaviors among adolescents, including substance use, sexual behavior and interpersonal violence. Studies specific to adolescents who are mothers include risk factors for repeat pregnancy, access to prenatal care, drug use during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and risk factors for an abnormal Pap smear
  • Screening and counseling behaviors among pediatricians providing services to adolescents
  • Evaluating an innovative intervention to promote STD Screening. Cultural perceptions of violence among youth, parents and other community members
  • Development and evaluation of interventions to promote weight loss among severely obese adolescents
