Stephen F. Austin High School-Based Clinic, Houston Independent School District

• Facility/Setting: This clinic is a 15-minute drive east of Texas Children's Hospital, located near I-45N and Cullen, on Dumble.  It includes: a reception area; 3 offices (clerk, nurse and nurse practitioner); 2 examination rooms; 2 rest rooms; a store room for supplies; a multipurpose area; a Class D pharmacy formulary and a laboratory area.  The school has training rooms used 2 hours per week for student athletes.

• Description:  The high school has 2,200 predominantly Hispanic students; 20% born outside the U.S.; 50% living at or below the poverty level; 65% are at risk for dropping out of school, pregnancy, violence and substance abuse.  Free primary, specialty care, basic laboratory, and pre-natal services are provided.

Ben Taub Teen Health Clinic

• Facility/Setting: The clinic is located in Texas Medical Center, and includes 5 rooms (2 examination rooms) and 2 restrooms. 

• Description: The clinic provides free reproductive health services 3 half-days a week.
