Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
The Primary Sports Care Medicine Fellowship is a one-year fellowship. To be eligible, fellows must be trained in pediatrics or medicine and pediatrics.
Clinical experiences are gained through:
- The Sports Medicine Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital, where patients of all ages are seen by two physicians (the clinic is staffed by physical therapists during clinic time)
- Texas Southern University, Division 1-AA football (1-A all other sports)
- Four high schools
- A medical clinic for marathon runners
Elective experiences include training in:
- Exercise physiology with the director of the Wellness Center
- Clinical evaluation of nutrition problems by the sports nutritionist
- Clinic and operating room time with orthopedic surgeons
- Psychiatry
- Physical therapy
- Sports psychology
- Anatomy lab
