Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Primary Sports Care Medicine Fellowship is a one-year fellowship. To be eligible, fellows must be trained in pediatrics or medicine and pediatrics.

Clinical experiences are gained through:

• The Sports Medicine Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital, where patients of all ages are seen by two physicians (the clinic is staffed by physical therapists during clinic time)
• Texas Southern University, Division 1-AA football (1-A all other sports)
• Four high schools
• A medical clinic for marathon runners

Elective experiences include training in:

• Exercise physiology with the director of the Wellness Center
• Clinical evaluation of nutrition problems by the sports nutritionist
• Clinic and operating room time with orthopedic surgeons
• Psychiatry
• Physical therapy
• Sports psychology
• Anatomy lab
