Clinical and Research Interests
Dr. Vick’s principal area of interest is in cardiovascular imaging. He was trained as a biomedical engineer and holds a Ph.D. in cell physiology, as well as his medical degree in pediatric cardiology and fellowship in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. He is an experienced echocardiographer and has described many of the echocardiographic methods now in common use. He has developed advanced techniques for cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and has acquired extensive clinical expertise in this area.
His clinical research is directed primarily at improving magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiographic methods for evaluation of congenital and acquired cardiovascular disease. He is developing techniques for imaging the cardiac stem cell niche and quantitatively evaluating its function in cardiac regenerative treatments.
