Academic General Pediatrics
Virginia A. Moyer, M.D., M.P.H. - Academic General Pediatrics Section Head
The Section of Academic General Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to leadership in medical education, pediatric research and providing high quality health care in a cost effective manner.
We coordinate and supervise resident continuity clinics in several settings: the Texas Children's Hospital Residents’ Primary Care Group, Ben Taub General Hospital’s Footsteps Clinic, and private pediatric practices in the Houston area. Our Special Needs Primary Care clinic at Texas Children's Hospital provides comprehensive primary care for children with special needs, particularly technology-dependent children. In addition, we reach out to the community through the Texas Children's Mobile Clinic program.
Our faculty attends on the inpatient teaching services at both Texas Children's and Ben Taub General. Areas of research include childhood obesity, health disparities, patient safety, immunizations, and pediatric education. We sponsor a three-year Academic General Pediatric Fellowship Program that combines training in education and research methodology with multiple teaching opportunities in a variety of settings.
