Diagnostic Virology Laboratory

The Diagnostic Virology Laboratory is a full service clinical and research virology laboratory in Texas Children's Hospital, Houston, Texas. We specialize in providing virology services to physicians and hospitals throughout the United States. These services include viral culture, viral antigen detection, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to isolate or detect numerous viruses.

Our laboratory provides not only service, but also research and education in the fields of diagnostic virology and epidemiology. We publish a monthly newsletter, What's Going 'Round, and provide weekly updates (DVL Updates), so you know what virus appears to currently be circulating in the community.

During this year's Respiratory Virus Season visit our RSV-FLU-O-Meter for weekly updates on influenza activity detected by our laboratory.
