The Electron Microscopy Laboratory of the Department of Pathology

Our mission is to provide electron microscopic services to the Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pathology, to other departments in the college, and to the scientific community at large in that order of priority. We are very happy to provide our services to research projects; however, clinical diagnostic cases are given priority.

Services

Transmission electron microscopy

We have a JEOL 1230 transmission electron microscope fitted with both sub stage and 35mm port Gatan cameras. This instrument produces high quality electron micrographs that are captured digitally. We process the images by computer and send them to the client file transfer protocol or on a CD/ROM.

One micron epoxy sections

We can process your tissue through the plastic embedding step and cut 1.0 µm thick sections with a glass knife. These we mount on glass slides and stain with toluidine blue and basic fuchsin.
