Baylor Prostate SPORE Tumor Bank
Our laboratory provides support to the prostate cancer research program SPORE.
Our Primary Duties include:
- Fresh prostate tissue procurement in the operating room from patients participating in the SPORE research project from the VA, Ben Taub, and St. Luke's Hospital
- Collection of clinical data from prostectomy patients
- Clinical and pathological data entry
- Organization and distribution of prostate frozen samples to various researchers based on the approval of the research allocation committee
- Histological services for human and murine tissue for research organizations
- Digitizing and electronic collection of whole mount prostate tissue images
- Maintaining microscopic slides and paraffin blocks of prostate tissue
