Surgical Pathology Fellowship

Baylor College of Medicine

Program(s): A one-year fellowship in surgical pathology is offered at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals to provide advanced training and experience in surgical pathology. Training in general surgical pathology will be emphasized but experience in all subspecialty areas is available. Training and experience in cytopathology, electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, image analysis and molecular diagnostics are also available.

The fellowship is based largely at Ben Taub General Hospital and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Houston, but interacts with other resources at other Baylor teaching hospitals including, Texas Children's Hospital, The Methodist Hospital and St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. The fellow will also interact in Cullen Pathology, a service located in BCM central campus and a specialty consultation hub for a large network of hospitals that Baylor Pathology cover in Texas. Specialty sign outs and immunohistochemistry are also a part of the fellowship experience.

The fellow will assume responsibility and independence commensurate with his/her level of training experience. The fellow will be expected to participate in scholarly activities leading to publication.

Requirements: At least two years of training in anatomic pathology.

Stipends: Commensurate with level of postgraduate training.
