ACGME Site Visit Results/Announcement

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Residents,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the results of the recent site visit for both the residency program and the Cytopathology fellowship.  As you may remember, the American College of Graduate Medical Education evaluated these two programs last August.  This followed a previous site visit the year before and there was the possibility that both programs could receive negative results with significant impact on the programs and the department as a whole.

Through the dedicated efforts of the residency committee, the chief residents, Yvetter Boney, and Drs. Laucirica and Gannon (as well as many other staff), our program was awarded a 5 year review cycle, the highest possible result.  Even more impressive than this was the fact that both programs received no citations and were commended on their strengths.  This is a very unusual result and is indicative of the degree of preparation and hard work that this team accomplished.  This result has attracted the attention of the senior administration of the College and has reflected very favorably on our department.  Please extend warm congratulations to all that were involved.
