Evaluation Tools

The Physician Assistant Cancer Education evaluation protocol is designed to seek answers to questions related to participant performance, results dissemination, and project effectiveness. The specific questions to be addressed using quantitative and qualitative data are whether:

  • PA students’ cancer risk assessment knowledge, skills and perceived self-efficacy changed as a result of participating in PACE curriculum modifications.
  • PA students’ cancer risk assessment and management knowledge, skills and perceived self-efficacy post-test scores changed following participation in clinical rotations incorporating PACE-developed strategies.
  • PA faculty members’ perceived self-efficacy in strengthening cancer risk assessment and management instruction in their respective programs increased as a result of participation in the PACE Faculty Development Program.
  • PA faculty members implemented cancer risk assessment and management experiences on their campuses consistent with the guidelines provided in the PACE Faculty Development Workshop.
  • Outcomes and resources developed by the PACE Project were disseminated to other PA programs.
  • Cancer risk assessment and management instructional activities for students were judged effective by students using course performance measures.

The various assessment tools being developed to assess performance are presented below.
