J. David Holcomb ImageThe project director will be J. David Holcomb, Ed.D., professor of Allied Health Sciences, dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, and Senior Vice President at BCM. Dr. Holcomb has been principal investigator on 18 externally-funded projects supported by numerous funding agencies, including NHLBI, HRSA, the U.S. Department of Education, the American Heart Association, the Texas Department of Health, and the Shell Oil Company Foundation.

He has served as co-investigator on 15 other projects supported by various public and private agencies, including a major national initiative funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation that was instrumental in preparing two generations of academic leaders in allied health, as well as an NCI-funded project on breast cancer education that resulted in PA curricular materials still in use in the BCM Physician Assistant Program.

Dr. Holcomb has authored or co-authored 83 articles in refereed journals, and co-authored two books, including one that is in its Fourth Edition. In 2003, he was awarded the Barbara and Corbin Robertson, Jr. Presidential Award for Excellence in Education, one of the highest awards made by BCM’s Board of Trustees.
