Physician Assistant Cancer Education Goals

The intent of PACE is to improve the quantity and quality of the learning experiences dealing with cancer prevention and control services offered students enrolled in physician assistant programs. The three project goals are to:

  • Develop, test and refine a Cancer Risk Assessment and Management curriculum.
  • Implement a Faculty Development Program to promote adoption of the model curriculum by PA programs in Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the cancer curriculum and faculty development initiatives using objective outcome measures; disseminating the results through strategies.

Achievement of these aims requires that the project address the various modes of instruction used by PA programs to develop competencies requisite to entry-level practice.
