BCM Genetics Interest Group
BCM Genetics Interest Group (GIG) is a medical student organization dedicated to the promotion of medical and molecular genetics. We seek to provide forum for the discussion of topics related to genetics as a medical specialty and serve as an information resource for students interested in genetics. We host speakers of a variety of topics within genetics, arrange field trips to various facilities, and organize service projects to help those who have genetic disorders.
All students are welcome to join GIG, no matter what level of training or specialty they have decided to pursue. Genetics is an exponentially growing field that is rapidly becoming important in medicine across the board, and we support all those who are interested to participate.
For students who are especially interested in genetics, Baylor offers a specialized track in genetics. This track allows students to have a longitudinal exposure to several aspects of genetics and participate in research. More information is available in the student handbook, in the genetic track section.
