Standing Committies - Introduction
The educational policy of the medical school is determined by the Academic Council. Membership on the Academic Council consists of the president, the chancellor, vice-presidents', deans, the chair of each department, and two elected faculty representatives. Several standing committees, appointed by the president, deal with specific academic issues and are responsible to the Academic Council. Those standing committees, which are involved in educational/student life programs for medical students, have both faculty and student members.
Students must be in good academic standing to serve on any of the Committees. Students who are on academic warning or probation are expected to cease and desist from all committee work until such time as they are removed from warning or probation.
Students members have full voting rights on the Admissions Committee, Curriculum Committee, Sexual Harassment Committee, Student Affairs Committee and Student Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee.
