Biography

Dr. Noble is a professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the director of Orthopedic Research in the Barnhart Department at Baylor College of Medicine. His diverse research interests include the biomechanics of human and artificial joints, the morphometry of human bones, the biology and biomechanics of cartilage, ligament fixation, computer graphics, virtual biomechanics, and the quantitative assessment of clinical outcomes. Dr. Noble works closely with the faculty, residents, and fellows in the department on many research projects and protocols.

His teaching and independent research activities have brought him many awards, including membership of The Hip Society and The American Society of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Noble has published many articles in leading orthopedic journals and is a frequent speaker at orthopedic conferences, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Noble is internationally renowned as an innovator in the field of total joint arthroplasty and is the principal inventor of several popular designs of artificial joints and surgical instruments in use throughout the world. He is also the driving force behind the Institute of Orthopedic Research and Education, and the Orthopedic Sciences Foundation, non-profit organizations established to support musculo-skeletal research.

Education

Dr. Noble was awarded a Bachelor's of Engineering degree in Metallurgical Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science from the University of Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia. After relocating from Australia to the United States, he earned his Ph.D. from Strathyclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.
