Biography
Patrick C. McCulloch, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon fellowship trained in sports medicine and cartilage restoration. He specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He also has extensive experience in cartilage tissue engineering and performs cartilage transplantation.
Dr. McCulloch graduated with honors in Biological Sciences from Harvard University, Boston, Mass. where he was also a four-year NCAA division I varsity athlete. He was awarded a scholarship to the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, San Francisco, Calif. where he graduated at the top of his class. He was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed a general surgery internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Mass.
Dr. McCulloch returned to Harvard University to complete his orthopedic surgery training in the prestigious Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program, where he worked with several major teams including the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Harvard University Athletic Department.
He completed a fellowship in sports medicine and cartilage restoration at RUSH Orthopedic Sports Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where he was the head team physician for a professional hockey team and an assistant team physician for the World Series Champion Chicago White Sox.
He is presently a team physician for the University of Houston varsity athletes.
Dr. McCulloch has authored several publications on tendon and ligament injuries, and cartilage restoration and transplantation techniques.
His professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and International Cartilage Repair Society.
