Biography

Mark W. Maffet, M.D., assistant professor of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of sports medicine injuries. His surgical expertise centers around the arthroscopic surgical repair of knee and shoulder injuries.

Dr. Maffet has worked extensively with athletes at both the amateur and professional levels. He currently serves as team physician for the Houston Comets and the athletic programs at Houston Baptist University.

He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed his internship and his orthopedic surgery residency. He completed his fellowship in orthopedic surgery at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Dr. Maffet has several publications to his name and frequently gives presentations and lectures. He has published articles and chapters about arthroscopic shoulder pathology and repair, and about the biomechanics of the windmill softball pitch.
