Baylor Midwifery Care offers an alternative in women's health care. Our focus is on promoting and maintaining health, and we encourage women and their families to be informed and actively involved in this process.

Our service is managed and staffed by certified nurse-midwives (CNMs). Nurse-midwives provide high quality, hands-on health care for women. A nurse-midwife is educated to support and enhance a woman's normal life processes, recognize and manage problems and if needed, refer clients to a health care provider for further specialized care. All of our CNMs are faculty or staff of Baylor College of Medicine. Care is provided within this medical system. Physician consultation and collaborative management are available if needed.

Baylor Midwifery Service offers full-scope care for healthy women. This includes family planning or child spacing techniques, annual physical exams and Pap smears, as well as treatment for minor gynecologic conditions.

Complete prenatal and birth care is also available. Our emphasis during pregnancy is to maintain and support this natural life process. We seek to make childbirth both a safe and emotionally satisfying experience. Babies are birthed in the supportive atmosphere of the Family Birthing Center at Ben Taub General Hospital. Spacious and beautifully decorated rooms are available for the complete birth experience.

All of our care is individualized to meet personal needs and desires. We encourage an open and collaborative relationship with our clients and provide access to medical and other supportive services as indicated. If referral to a physician is necessary, we are still available for supportive midwifery care.

We believe birth is one of the most significant events in a family's life. If you have special concerns or desires related to your labor or the birth of your child, please discuss them with us. We will work to make your birth both a safe and emotionally satisfying experience. We are affiliated with Ben Taub General Hospital. If emergency facilities are needed for the mother or baby, they are immediately available.
