Dr. Patsner is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and sub-specialty certified in Gynecological Oncology. He specializes in management of pre-invasive disease of the lower genital tract as well as chemotherapy and alternative medical treatment for gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Patsner earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1979. Following an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Patsner completed his fellowship training in Gynecological Oncology at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York in 1985. Following academic appointments at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and SUNY Stony Brook Medical School, Dr. Patsner was in the private practice of Gynecological Oncology in New Jersey from 1989-2000. Dr. Patsner has received multiple national and international awards for excellence in clinical research in gynecologic cancer and has written extensively on gynecologic cancer. From 2003-2006 he was a senior medical officer at the United States Food and Drug Administration in Washington, D.C.; since 2007 he has taught health law at the University of Houston Law Center. Dr. Patsner is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and has served as a member of the Gynecologic Practice Committee of ACOG.

Dr. Patsner has returned to Baylor College of Medicine to expand the clinical and academic endeavors of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Harris County Hospital District - Ben Taub General Hospital. In addition, he will be developing electronically-based teaching resources for medical students and house staff in several areas of health law.
