It's that time of year again - flu season. Anyone can get influenza, a viral infection that attacks the respiratory system, including your nose, throat, bronchial tubes and lungs. You're especially at risk if you are an older adult, have diabetes, chronic heart or lung disease, or an impaired immune system.

Signs and symptoms of influenza include:

  • Chills and sweats
  • Headache
  • Dry cough
  • Muscular aches and pains, especially in your back, arms and legs
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Nasal congestion
  • Loss of appetite
