Dan L. Duncan
Return to Baylor College of Medicine receives $100 million gift
Dan L. Duncan is chairman of the board of Enterprise Products, a leading provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas and gas liquids. He joined the company in 1968 as one of its three principals, shortly after its formation. He was the company's president, 1970-79, and chief executive officer, 1970-95, and has served in his present capacity since 1979.
Upon completing studies in accounting and law, Duncan joined Wanda Petroleum Company where he served in various capacities, the last as executive vice president, until he joined Enterprise.
Duncan is active in numerous professional organizations and is a life member in many, including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Houston Zoological Association, the Houston Safari Club and Safari Club International, the Exotic Wildlife Association, and the Hunting Hall of Fame. His memberships include the Boy Scouts of America, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Texas Wildlife Association, Sportsman Conservationists of Texas, the Greater Texas Sportsman Coalition and the Texas Game Warden's Association. In addition, Duncan has held offices in the Houston Museum of Natural Science, The University of Texas at Houston Development Board, the Weatherby Foundation International Board of Directors, the Safari Club International and the Houston Safari Club. Among his outstanding achievements are the Safari Club International World Award Ring, the Weatherby Award, the Houston Safari Club Hunter of the Year Award and the Safari Club International Hunter of the Year.
Born in Shelby County, Texas, Duncan graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Massey Business College and South Texas College, where he focused on accounting and finance.
