Experimental Antiepileptic Drug Trials
When conventional and newly-approved antiepileptic drugs fail to adequately control the seizures, or when seizure control by AEDs is at the expense of unacceptable adverse side-effects, some patients may become eligible to participate in a trial of newly developed antiepileptic drugs that are in their testing phase before FDA approval.
All AED trial protocols are reviewed for safety and approved by the Institutional Review Board for Human Protection of Baylor College of Medicine.
