The Interview

Students working in the lab

With more than a dozen graduate departments, BCM offers many opportunities for future physician scientists to pursue research training.

Medical Scientist Training Program interviews are conducted October through January, the Friday morning before medical school interviews begin. MSTP candidates have two faculty interviews and a student interview. These interview sessions provide the opportunity to discuss research experiences and explore various training opportunities available at Baylor College of Medicine.

The MSTP interviews approximately 75 applicants annually, inviting the most competitive applicants to return at BCM's expense for an additional review process called Candidate Review. At this time, applicants have an opportunity to meet faculty members of their choice to discuss research opportunities at BCM. Each candidate also meets with a program director. Offers of acceptance are made after this weekend event.
