Dr. Sharon PlonAs the director of the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Medical Scientist Training Program, I am very excited about your interest in our program. BCM is located in the largest medical center in the world, which provides a rich and highly collaborative environment for students in the M.D./Ph.D. program to conduct outstanding state-of-the-art research. Our leadership team is strongly committed to supporting and mentoring each of our students in the pursuit of their goal to become a productive physician scientist.

My own experience as an NIH M.D./Ph.D. program graduate has been instrumental in developing a career that combines research endeavors and clinical practice. The joys and rewards of discovery and patient care provide a lifetime of excitement and challenge. I applaud you for pursuing a training program that will maximize your success in academic medicine throughout your career.
