Major W. Bradshaw M.D.

Medical and Research Interests

Professionally, I have devoted myself to being a clinician-educator. I have maintained a full-time practice in clinical infectious diseases but early on in my career, I lost interest in research. In my second year on the faculty, I was put in charge of a large course of the basic sciences, pathophysiology. In 1976, I became Associate Dean and for twenty years was in charge of the Office of Student Affairs. In January of 1996, I became Dean of Education and served until June 2006.

Dr. Bradshaw has currently accepted the position of interim founding dean of the University of Botswana School of Medicine.

In terms of specific interests within the area of infectious disease, I consider myself a generalist but for a long time I have had a particular interest in parasitology and obviously because of the nature of our practice I have acquired a certain expertise in dealing with infections related to cardiovascular surgery
