Frensley Center for Imaging Research
The Frensley Imaging Center is a BCM-approved cost center whose mission is to:
(i) facilitate through small animal imaging, the translation of scientific discoveries made by Baylor and Baylor-affiliated faculty into clinical practice, and to
(ii) translate imaging technologies, novel imaging agents, and devices developed in a unique interdisciplinary setting involving engineers, biologists, clinicians, and chemists.
What services do we offer?
-
Imaging protocol development as well as assisting with protocol approval processes
-
Ability to conduct GLP-certifiable studies with assistance study design, data logging, and study assurance.
-
Nuclear imaging: single photon computed tomography (SPECT), positron emission tomography (PET), scintigraphy.
-
Optical imaging: Fluorescence imaging and bioluminescence imaging.
-
Synthesis of imaging agents for nuclear and optical imaging.
-
Radiography (X-ray film) and computed tomography.
-
Fusion of imagery, advanced tomography assistance, biodistribution, and pharmacokinetics.
-
In-house, “clean” small animal housing for holding 1000 rodents (mice, rats, hamsters) is maintained by BCM’s Center for Comparative Medicine and enables longitudinal imaging within the barrier animal facility.
