Available Libraries Description:
We have obtained from Genome Systems/Incyte 8700 sequence-verified clones from the Mouse GEM 1 set containing cDNA fragments from the mouse genome. The average insert size is 1500 bp. Presently 2500 clones contain fragments of known genes. The Mouse 1K and Mouse 6K cDNA microarrays are based on these clones. Transformed cells or PCR products are available for $40/clone. These are suitable for useas probes in northern blot verification of microarray results.

The average insert size is 1000 bp. Presently 4096 clones contain fragments of known genes and an additional 577 are annotated ESTs. The Human 1K and Human 6K cDNA microarrays are based on these clones. Transformed cells or PCR products are available for $40/clone. These are suitable for useas probes in northern blot verification of microarray results.
Description:
This library is a result of an initiative by the National Institutes of Mental Health and Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIMH &NINDS) to map the mammalian nervous system and the brain. This collection represents the Unigene subset of a larger cDNA library which is a composite of many brain-tissue specific tissues including the cerebellum,brain stems,olfactory bulbs,hypothalamus, prefrontal cortex, amygdala, basal ganglia, pineal glands, corpus striatum, hippocampus, enthorinal cortex, dentate gyrus and the spinal cord of C57/BLK6 mice. The library was contructed at University of Iowa and is supplied by Research Genetics. Additional sublibraries for the eye are being added. In all there are over 11,000 individual clones in this set and more information can be found at the Research Genetics Website.

We have obtained from Research Genetics a set of 40,000 sequence-verified cDNA clones from a large assortment of normal adult tissues, tumors and whole embryo. Nearly all genes have been Unigene clustered and over 6000 of the clones are fragments of known genes. This set will be used to build additional human cDNA microarrays. In all, approximately six, 10K chips are planned.
Human Retina Enriched cDNA $10/clone Description:
It is possible to select through in silico approaches, genes that are more likely to be uniquely expressed in individual tissues. This represents just such a set filtered for human retina. Approximately 900 retina specific gene fragments were identified and the 3' untranslated regions of these genes were amplified using unique PCR primer pairs. These products will soon be available as glass microarrays.
