Electives Abroad: Travel Insurance

The Baylor Health Care Program for Students is with The Chickering Group, an Aetna Company. Their website, www.chickering.com, provides coverage details as well as information about the additional value-added programs for which enrolled students are automatically covered such as Emergency Travel Assistance Services. Students taking an away elective are encouraged to review their coverage with the Chickering Group and familiarize themselves with the procedures for obtaining medical care and other services while in a foreign country.

If you have your health insurance with another company, you are encouraged to review your policy for services provided in a foreign country. If your policy does not provide foreign health care, you might want to consider supplementing your health insurance coverage with one of the short-term insurance policies designed for student travelers. In addition to providing medical assistance, these policies typically include medical evacuation/repatriation, hospital deposit guarantees, emergency personal cash, lost document assistance, and other services. Listed below are insurance companies that provide this coverage.
