CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS

Houston is one of few U.S. cities with resident companies in all four major performing arts -- ballet, opera, symphony, and theater.Houston Arts Council, 713-527-9330.

Theater Under the Stars -The city's professional civic light opera company presents a program of operettas and musicals November through May in the Music Hall. Downtown Theater District

Alley Theater - The city's resident professional theater produces 12 plays on two stages annually. Schedule information and tickets available at 713-228-8421.

Aerial Theater - Hosts a number of different kinds of performances.  Schedule and ticket information available at 713-230-1666

The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts - Beginning in 2002 will host Theater Under the Stars and the Houston Broadway Series.

Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts - Home to The Houston Symphony and the Society for the Performing Arts.

Wortham Theater Center -Home to the opera and ballet companies.

Other Performing Arts Facilities

The Woodlands' Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion offers outdoors performances.

University of Houston frequently hosts musical programs open to the public at Dudley Recital Hall on the main campus.
