Damitra, currently our 3rd year chief, is a proud native Texan and grew up in Houston. Her father is Indian and her mother is Mexican-American, which means that on any given day she can crave both chai tea and pumpkin empanadas. After 15 years of training in classical Indian dance (Bharata Natyam), she ventured out to learn two-step and swing as well as jazz and lyrical while majoring in English at Trinity University in San Antonio. In her time at Baylor for medical school, she became an avid Astros fan and spent 2 months in a rural charity hospital in northern India. She is happily married to Griffin Knodle, and they are the proud parents of an opinionated Sheltie rescue named Sydney who posts her thoughts on the world and such on her very own blog. Damitra is interested in the care of children and the elderly, international health, and the care of immigrant communities in the U.S. She still performs with her Indian dance troupe, occasionally dabbles in liturgical dance, and enjoys photography, travelling, and having people over to her home.
