Anoop immigrated to the United States from India with his family at the age of four. He spent his formative years in North Carolina, Louisiana and Kansas. By the age of 11 he had learned five languages, of which only three have survived to date. His interest in medicine from an early age lead him to enroll in the Univeristy of Missouri-Kansas City's six year combined BA/MD program. He completed residency in the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Program at Baylor College of Medicine. After spending a year of traveling abroad, practicing meditation, and working as a locum tenem, he returned to join the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine in 2003. His hobbies include reading, traveling, hiking, meditation, yoga and long distance running.
