Clinical Services

Information for Patients and Referring Physicians

In July 2000 we opened a specialty clinic devoted to the diagnosis, treatment, and investigation of hypercoaguable states and hemorrhagic disorders.

Participating physicians:

  • Vahid Afshar-Kharghan, M.D.
  • Kelty Baker, M.D.
  • Paul F. Bray, M.D.
  • James Muntz, M.D.

The clinic is dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care in the context of the other academic missions of Baylor College of Medicine. We provide our considerable expertise to help you manage your patients with disorders of hemostasis, which might include, but not be limited to:

  • Recurrent venous or arterial thromboses
  • Post-phlebitic syndrome
  • Coronary artery disease at a young age
  • Platelet disorders (qualitative or quantitative disorders)
  • Bleeding diatheses (e.g., hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, acquired conditions)
  • Anticoagulation difficulties

We will also be assisting The Methodist Hospital in managing an Anticoagulation Clinic for patients on warfarin or out-patient heparin therapy.

The Thrombosis Clinic meets Monday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Appointments may be made by calling 713-394-3800.

We are anxious to provide patients with excellent service.
