Research Interests:
James E. Muntz is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinical
Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine,
and Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University
of Texas Health Science Center. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from
Indiana University, Dr Muntz received his medical degree from Baylor
College of Medicine and his postgraduate education at St Luke's Episcopal
Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals. Dr.
Muntz' area of research interest is thromboprophylaxis for venous
thromboembolism, with a special focus on the management of orthopedic
surgery patients. He has participated in numerous clinical trials
of novel anticoagulants and new anticoagulant regimens, and has presented
his findings at more than 400 conferences and has been interviewed
by the television networks ABC, NBC, ESPN and CNN. In 1995, Dr Muntz
received the Outstanding Internist award presented by the Department
of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He currently
serves on the Advisory Board of the American Heart Association. He
is also team physician for the NBA Houston Rockets, the Houston Astros
major league baseball team, and the NFL Houston Texans.
