On-Line Educational Program

The fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine is the official producer of "Grand Rounds in Endocrinology" for Medscape, an internet medical education service. Core Curriculum Conference

Conferences are held at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center every Monday at 8 a.m. Approximately 55 endocrine topics are covered by didactic lectures over two years. One session each month is a review of thyroid diseases with Dr. Steve Sherman. Another is devoted to a critical review of journal articles with Dr. Rena Sellin.

Clinical Care Conference

Conference are held at the VA Medical Center every Tuesday at 8 a.m., and are presented by a fellow, resident, or faculty member. Presentations are in power point with case summaries with extensive discussion. Numerous faculty attend.

Evidence-based Endocrine Practice Conference/Neuroradiology Conference

This precedes the Ben Taub general endocrine clinic, and is attended by all first- and second-year fellows, and Ben Taub faculty. One session each month is devoted to reviewing pituitary/hypothalamic MRI scans with the neuroradiology staff. The other sessions are devoted to critical reviews of diagnostic endocrinology by visiting speakers, and occasional case conferences.

Scheduled at Baylor every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. This is a combined conference held in conjunction with the endocrine division of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and pediatric endocrine at Texas Children's Hospital. It is attended by a large number of adult and pediatric endocrinologists. The format includes lectures on basic and clinical endocrinology by visiting speakers, and occasional case conferences.

Endocrine Research Conference

A research dinner conference is held on the second Monday of every month at a nearby hotel or restaurant. Two senior fellows or faculty members present on-going research projects. This conference provides an opportunity for sharing expertise and data in a congenial environment.

Multidisciplinary Conference

This conference is held weekly at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Attending physicians from the head and neck surgical service, the neurological service and radiology service join members of the endocrine service to review mutual patients comprehensively.

Research Retreat

During one weekend day in the fall, all faculty present their research work and research training opportunities to all fellows.
