The Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine with 518 full-time and 429 volunteer faculty members, 182 medical residents, 160 subspecialty trainees, 54 post-doctoral research fellows, 10 graduate students and a staff of nearly 400, working in 13 departmental sections and 6 centers. We provide a full spectrum of high quality primary and subspecialty patient care at the Baylor Clinic and our affiliate hospitals, including Ben Taub Harris County Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, the Pavilion Hospital for Women and the Methodist Hospital. Our departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical and attract $64M in total extramural funding, including nearly $43M from the NIH and other federal sources. In the current year, our department ranks #33 among all departments of medicine in the U.S. News and World Report (same ranking as the College as a whole).

Our mission is to lead the discovery of new knowledge to advance the medicine of tomorrow, educate the leaders of Internal Medicine, and provide compassionate care of the highest quality to our patients, while promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.

We are pleased that you are interested in our programs and invite you to learn more via this website. I also invite you to contact me directly if I can be of any assistance.
