Baylor College of Medicine is Recruiting McNair Scholars

seal of the McNair Scholar ProgramThe search for McNair Scholars is underway. Baylor College of Medicine is recruiting new faculty members for its prestigious McNair Scholars Program, established through a recent $100 million gift from The Robert and Janice McNair Foundation.

Program Focus

The goal of the McNair Scholars Program is to recruit world-class researchers and physician scientists who will expedite discoveries that will lead to new medical advances and cures, with an initial focus in:

  • Breast cancer
  • Juvenile diabetes
  • Pancreatic cancer

Neurosciences, including mental health disorders, and other focus areas will be added over the course of the program.

As a McNair Scholar, you will receive support for equipment and staff, receive a lifetime designation as a "McNair Scholar," work in a collaborative environment in the world's largest medical center, and join the best minds in medicine as we transform the future of healthcare.

About the McNairs

Robert and Janice McNair are long-time supporters of Baylor College of Medicine and community education at all levels.

The $100 million gift from The McNair Foundation exemplifies their belief that intellectual capital is the key to advancing human health. The McNairs are also passionate about expediting cures through collaboration. The McNair Scholar program capitalizes on the College's collaborative relationship with numerous institutions in the renowned Texas Medical Center, expediting the discovery process and enabling the entire community to benefit from those discoveries.

Robert McNair is owner of the Houston Texans NFL franchise and a member of the BCM Board of Trustees since 1994. He and Janice, a breast cancer survivor, chose the initial areas of focus in part based on the experiences of family and friends.
