About the Presenter

Laurel Stine is the Bazelon Center’s principal lobbyist on mental health policy issues before the U.S. Congress and the federal government. For over 10 years she has advanced and helped shape the advocacy agenda of the Bazelon Center on a range of issues, including health care, education, and juvenile and criminal justice. She has also represented the advocacy interests of several other national disability and health care organizations, and currently serves as a co-chair of the Health Policy Committee for the Mental Health Liaison Group, an umbrella coalition of more than 50 national mental health advocacy organizations. Stine holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology from UCLA, a Master's degree in psychology from SUNY-Binghamton and a J.D. from the Washington College of Law at the American University in Washington, D.C..
