About the Presenter

Jean Ashmore is the Director of Disability Support Services at Rice University in Houston, Texas where she has been since 1997.  From 2003 to 2009 Ashmore served on the board of directors for AHEAD, the Association on Higher Education and Disability, after having been President of AHEAD in Texas.  In 2009 Ashmore received the Ronald Blosser award from AHEAD, its highest honor for outstanding service and contributions to the association.  With a Masters degree in counseling and professional background in rehabilitation and school counseling, Ashmore brings wide ranging expertise to postsecondary disability services.  Describing herself as a generalist, Ashmore has presented at national and international conferences about various topics related to disability services in postsecondary institutions.  In addition to managing the disability services for Rice University, Ashmore is a Lecturer with the campus’ Educational Certification program.
