Application Procedure

Applicants meeting the admissions requirements are invited to apply.

  1. Submit the application on or before Dec. 1 of the year prior to which admission is being sought. Early application is encouraged. The online application is only available July 1 through Dec. 1 each year.

  2. Submit all required supporting documents and application fee such that they are received by the Office of Admissions no later than Dec. 15 of the year prior to which admission is being sought.
    1. Supporting documents to be submitted by the applicant to the Office of Admissions:
      1. Photocopy of current, unencumbered R.N. license. Applicants from states that prohibit photocopying of nursing licenses must have a letter sent from the state board of nursing directly to the Office of Admissions verifying that he/she holds a current, unencumbered license to practice professional nursing.
      2. Proof of current certifications stated on application (front and back, where applicable). Examples include, but are not limited to, basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, CCRN certification, etc.
      3. Current Curriculum Vitae.
      4. Application fee of $80 (submitted via PayPal).
      5. Mail all supporting documents to the Office of Admissions at:

    2. Supporting documents that must be submitted directly from the sender (not the applicant) to the Office of Admissions:
      1. GRE Scores: Graduate Record Examination scores must be sent directly from Education Testing Service to Baylor College of Medicine.
        1. Information regarding the GRE can be found at http://www.gre.org/.
        2. When making application to take the GRE, you will be asked for the institution code, which is R6052, and for the department code, which is 0601.
      2. Transcripts: Forward official transcripts from all colleges, universities and nursing schools attended.
      3. Evaluations from nursing and medical professionals: Provide three evaluations from nursing or medical professionals who are able to provide an assessment of professional performance, educational background, and essential character traits. Evaluations from family members or personal friends will not be considered.
        1. A completed evaluation form must be submitted by each of the following:
          1. Current critical care nursing supervisor.
          2. Academic Faculty member familiar with your academic performance.
          3. RN, CRNA, or physician of your choosing.
        2. The evaluation forms, specific to each category of evaluator, are found on our web site. From our home page, select "Admission," then "Application Forms" to print out the necessary copies.
        3. Please be sure to complete section one of each form before giving the form to your evaluators.
  3. Personal interview with members of the Admissions Committee will be offered to qualified applicants. Qualified applicants will be notified of their interview date. Interviews typically are held the last Friday in January and the following Monday.
