Admissions
Baylor College of Medicine Graduate Medical Education programs shall choose house offices based on criteria which are not influenced by race, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status or sexual orientation, but shall be based upon such factors as preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, motivation and integrity. The evaluation of these qualifications shall be determined by each department individually. Each department shall have a written policy as to the criteria for selections of house officers. Applicants are instructed to contact the department to which they are applying to gain specific information about match processes (if applicable) and application submission dates.
International Medical Graduates are welcomed and encouraged to apply to Baylor College of Medicine residency programs. All IMG's must be able to secure an appropriate visa and permit from the Texas Medical Board. The types of visas sponsored varies by department, so please check with the specific program to which you are applying to verify which visa types will be sponsored by which programs.
All residents and/or fellows (US and international medical graduates) are required to secure a Texas Medical Board Physician-in-Training Permit or have a full Texas Medical License. As part of the Baylor credentialing process to seek the physician-in-training permit, residents and fellows are subject to a criminal background check.
