Biotinidase cleaves the biotin group from the natural substrate, biocytin. This assay utilizes a synthetic substrate, N-biotinyl-p-aminobenzoic acid. The enzyme cleaves the biotin group off to liberate free p-aminobenzoic acid which is quantified colorimetrically. Specimen Requirements:Send 3-5 ml of serum.
