Chromosomal Microarray Analysis (CMA)

Please call 1-800-411-4363 prior to sending sample. Kits for submitting Prenatal CMA samples are available.

All tubes must be labeled with the patient's name and date of birth, and a completed Prenatal CMA Requisition Form or a CMA Requisition Form with CMA selected for postnatal samples. The original signed informed consent must accompany each sample. Ship specimens for overnight delivery at room temperature. Please notify the laboratory of incoming samples. Please call the laboratory to discuss billing for CMA or visit the CMA billing information page.

The 105K CMA Prenatal Reporting Guidelines:

BCM-Medical Genetics Laboratories will not report copy number changes:

  • smaller than 300kb in the backbone regions
  • less than 500kb with no known genes at the time of the report
  • The regions below have been excluded from the 105K Prenatal CMA:
    • Mitochondrial Genome
    • 15q11BP1-BP2 interval deletion & duplication
    • AZFa & AZFb
    • Bipolar disorder with 8q21.13 deletion
    • Chronic Pancreatitis
    • Hereditary pancreatitis
    • Schizophrenia epilepsy
