Essential Functions and Duties

Job Summary:
Position for a Postdoctoral Associate interested in performing research in molecular orthopedics, specifically gene therapy and stem cell research for the production of bone. Responsibilities will include planning and completing experiments using established in vitro and in vivo models.

Essential Functions and Duties:
*Plans, directs and conducts research experiments independently.
*Evaluates and analyzes data.
*Formulate results of the experiments into manuscripts.
*Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
*Defines problems and possible solutions.
*Maintains laboratory areas in a neat organized fashion.
*Performs other job related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Education

A Ph.D in a related field is required.

Minimum Certification/Licenses/Registration

 

Additional Information

Skills:
Requires interest in stem cell research or gene therapy.
Requires knowledge of molecular biology, and willingness to work with animal model systems.

Working Conditions:
There is periodic exposure to unpleasant conditions but the work is still viewed as relatively comfortable in a laboratory environment.

Physical Requirements:
Rarely required to exert physical effort.

Physical Risk:
Frequently handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory or clinic environment.
