Essential Functions and Duties

Job Summary:
Provides responsible technical assistance in support of a research project by completing assignments requiring a basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to a particular academic or scientific field. Works under minimal supervision by a higher-level research staff member.

Essential Functions and Duties:
*Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
*Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
*Documents results of experiments.
*Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
*Enters data into research database.
*Cleans equipment and work area.
*Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports.
*Performs other job related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a basic science or equivalent education and work experience.

 

Minimum Job Experience

  • No experience required.

 

Minimum Certification/Licenses/Registration

  • None required.

 

Additional Information

Skills:
Requires the technical ability to complete procedures and properly record results.

Supervision:
Not normally required to supervise others.

Customer Service:
Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customers' needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customers' complaints, inquiries, and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow up.

Working Conditions:
There is periodic exposure to unpleasant conditions but the work is still viewed as relatively comfortable in a laboratory environment.

Physical Requirements:
Rarely required to exert physical effort.

Physical Risk:
Frequently handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory or clinic environment.
