The GEM Core will microinject traditional transgene DNA constructs or
BAC DNA into the one cell mouse embryo. The core injects
150 to 200 embryos per scheduled injection. It provides the investigators with the
pregnant recipient moms or the weaned pups depending upon their research needs,
transient transgenic or the establishment of transgenic mouse lines, respectively.
The GEM core routinely generates transgenic mice in the C57BL/6 and FVB/N background.
The Core will microinject DNA into special mouse strains depending on the ability to
harvest embryos from those strains. All mice are generated specific pathogen free in
B3 housing in the Transgenic Mouse Facility.
