HOW TO USE THIS PROGRAM

After reviewing the program goals, needs and the CME information regarding the Virtual GI Clinic and Classroom, you may want to take advantage of this enduring material educational opportunity. For best results the following technological features are recommended:
1. A current internet browser
2. At least a 56K modem or high speed internet access to download images in a reasonable time period
3. A recent edition of Quicktime to display the embeded video used in some cases.

In order to participate in this activity, first choose the catagory of gastrointestinal disease that you are interested in from the Case List. If you want to see the Nutrition cases or Ethics cases, these lists will allow you to access those cases directly. Some general users will go to either the Advanced or Basic gastroenterology sites. These cases are listed in two ways, one of which maximally preserves the "unknown" aspect of the case so that a clinical challenge is a prominent feature of the educational experience. Each case begins with a welcome page that tells you if the case emphasizes diagnosis or management. The same page lets you choose for the last time if you want to know the learning objective of the specific case right at first, or if you would rather preserve the "unknown" aspect of the case until the final diagnosis or management strategy is revealed.

To receive 0.5 credit hours in AMA PRA category 1, you must:
1. View one case presentation
2. Complete the Post test (100% constitutes a passing score)
3. Complete the Registration and Evaluation forms

Please be certain the post test, registration and evaluation are complete before submitting the form. You will be notified if you did not answer all questions correctly. You may continue to repeat the post test until you receive the 100% required score. When you have answered all questions correctly, you will receive your certificate designating the credit hours earned by email. This is your proof of activity participation.

If you have any questions about this process, please email the Office of Continuing Medical Education at cme@bcm.tmc.edu or phone 713/798-8237, or toll free 800/914-3709 (U.S. and Canada).
