CME Information

FORMAT

GI Grand Rounds provides ongoing, practice-oriented, patient-centered education related to the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal diseases. In this weekly, one-hour conference interesting, challenging, exemplary, or unusual cases are presented by fellows and faculty from the consultation services at the Baylor affiliated hospitals. The details of the history, PE, lab, endoscopy, imaging studies, and pathology are presented in a stepwise fashion to recreate diagnostic and management problems. Three to five take-home lessons are emphasized.

ACCREDITATION

The Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of .50 catagory 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

The presentation Withdrawal of Informed Consent During Endoscopy has been designated by Baylor College of Medicine for .50 category 1 credits in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility.

The presentation PEG Placement in a Demented Patient has been designated by Baylor College of Medicine for .50 category 1 credits in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility.

Each case completed will earn the participant .50 category 1 credits.

PEER REVIEW

Each case in this continuing medical education online enduring material was presented and discussed in a live conference at Baylor College of Medicine. In attendance at this conference were faculty at Baylor College of Medicine from different departments including gastroenterology, surgery, pathology, and radiology. The details of the case history, radiographs, endoscopy, and pathology slides, as well as the discussion and learning lessons were all discussed. The final online version was modified in each case to reflect this intensive peer review prior to posting online.
